My first post change the world

Can you imagine waking up one morning and having a blank canvas just to leave all previous experiences beliefs loves hates behind and hitting control alt delete to reboot the entire system and start again. We all suffer bad experiences in our lives and welcome to the party as most of us are lifetime members of that club.

 

I had the experience of waking up early one morning it was bitterly cold and crisp the autumn leaves were blowing on the ground. I went for a walk and I came upon a quiet church nestled in the hills and to my amazement at that hour of the morning it was open and I decided to go in to rest for a while and  to spend some time in quiet contemplation away from the maddening crowd. I sat at the very back of the church and noticed a coffin in front of the altar so I concluded that there was going to be a funeral service that morning. I sat there, and I sat there, it must have been for hours when I noticed that there were people arriving for the funeral I took no notice at first. To my amazement I began to recognise the people who were arriving and the biggest shock of all was to see my wife accompanied by my wonderful daughter and two sons go up to the top of the church. It was then that I realised that it was my own funeral and I sat there like a passenger on a bus taking a ride to a destination I did not know. My thoughts raced forward to the eulogy that my children had prepared where he would recount the memories he had of my life on this earth and the legacy I left behind. Did I want him to say that Dad was the hardest worker in the office, no, or that he rarely saw me as I was never home and even if I was it made no difference, no, or that I missed all the important things in my family’s life.  I then woke up of a shot thanking the creator that it was just a dream but  the image rang true to me as if it had happened and I realised that in the end the legacy we leave behind is all that we really have.

Bad things happen to us all and at times I know I feel that I am in a dark hole and I keep asking myself how did I allow myself to get into this hole in the first place and I keep just shaking my head in disbelief. I have been in such dark places often in the past and I even sent out invitations to the Pity party where I would invite all my friends anyone that would listen to this party but fortunately very few turned up as they were consumed with problems of their own. So I decided that Pity parties did not work so I decided to give that idea up.

So here’s the thing we are all creations from a boundless source and no matter what religion you are comfortable following or maybe none at all that is a fact. We are all unique, special if you will, and because we come from a source that is eternal, has no boundaries, has no limitations, we have in ALL of us a spark that can change the world.

Back to the blank canvas, can you imagine just waking and having as your goal to do one thing positive to a fellow human being today without seeking anything in return. Making someone’s  day  better by a kind word or deed maybe a visit to a neighbour who you know is alone and could do with some company to recall their glory days to an audience instead of deep contemplation alone like groundhog day. Wow, do you think by this one action would make the world a better place, I think you know the answer to that one. It does not have to cost you a cent, how about going home and asking your kids and your spouse or partner about their day and making that investment in time to just do that. How about, making it your business to go to the local St Vincent De Paul and volunteering your services for one small part of your week. I was told years ago that you cannot give what you do not possess and if you do not love yourself you cannot express love to anyone else, so true, so the secret is to believe that you come from a boundless source of energy that only needs a small spark and once this is sparked you WILL change the world. So go and change the world but first you must change yourself.

I make no secret of the fact that I have my own demon’s and lets be fair we all have them, but we can change anything if we have the will and belief to do so I will finish up on another quote, I love quotes, as they bring joy to my heart so here it is

“Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail”.

Go on, go on and change the world and be that person who illuminates a room when you enter it instead of when you leave it.
